IDENTITY
We are ever-evolving beings. How we identify and move in the world is likely the cornerstone of how we show up. Whether this is in our work, relationships, including in how we are in relationship with ourselves. I hold space for you in all the identities that you inhabit.
EVOLVING IDENTITY WORK
There may have been a situation or event that has prompted some curiosity or unease and perhaps you’re uncertain of how you feel or what to make of how you identify. Identity is so broad and I welcome and invite you to be held in exploring, making meaning, and standing in who you are in the world. Whether this be in regards to race, gender, sexuality, values, or any other aspect of your identity. I will support you in navigating, exploring and landing.
race
Race is one aspect of identity that holds a prominent history and present day impact for everyone. Perhaps you have experienced race based trauma- be it outright racism, or microaggressions. Perhaps you are experiencing lack of reflection in a work, educational, or community setting. Perhaps you have experienced challenges with inclusion- or outright exclusion. I have experienced these things too and I know they can be painful. I support you and acknowledge who you are and your experiences.
INTERGENERATIONAL TRAUMA
In consideration of all that has come before we were even born. I consider the impact of previous generations, and history on our present day being. I think it important to consider our family of origin and how they showed up in the world, what they experienced and went through. In a similar vein I think it important to consider the larger societal, historical and global factors- the evolution that has led to where you are and who you are right now. These past experiences do not need to define us but it can be helpful to understand how they impact our current day behaviors, beliefs, and capacities.
